They were the "Top Banana in the West" , before deregulation, the biggest regional airline in the Western US. The company's early history was pretty shaky, Howard Hughes rescued them from certain bankruptcy when he took them over. His heirs sold the company to, I think Republic Airlines in the early '80s.
